Google Introduces Organic Results into its Google Shopping Tab

In order to support struggling retailers through the COVID-19 crisis, Bill Ready, the president of Commerce announced that Google makes Shopping listings free for merchants.

This change will happen in the U.S. before the end of April, and it will be expanded globally before the end of the year. The change will not last only until the pandemic is over, it will be permanent.

From now on, paid shopping ads will appear at the top and bottom of the page on the Google Shopping tab, just as they do on the main search results tab but the main Google Search page will not change and it will only showcase product listing ads only.

What do you need to do to show your products in the Shopping Tab Results?

If you currently have Shopping Campaigns running through a Merchant Center and you’ve already opted into the surfaces across Google program, you might already be eligible to show your products.

If you don't have your products listed in the Merchant Center, it's time to create a free Merchant Center Account and upload your product feed.

In order to opt-in, select “Growth” and then “Manage programs” in the left navigation menu and select the “surfaces across Google” program card. If you don't have all your products listed on Merchant Center, now it would be a good time to do so.
